About the Artist

Chester County artist Kathy Ruck's paintings are full of the crispness
of a clear, sunlit day. Her love of color and attention to detail brings
a realism to her watercolors that captures the viewer and draws them
into the scene.
Having earned her degree in Graphic Design and Illustration, Kathy
worked as an art director for many years, designing and illustrating for
corporate accounts. With the birth of her daughter, she made the
decision to work out of her home and dedicated all her professional
talents to painting. She studied watercolor with some of the areas
finest artists.
The subject matter of Kathy’s works varies, but with the common thread
of wanting to bring joy to the viewer. Whether one finds that joy in the
memory of a local scene, the beauty of a flower or their child’s face,
Kathy has a unique ability to portray a large variety of subjects.
“I believe that in today’s hectic world it’s important to fill your home
with art that will relax your mind and lift your spirits,” says the
artist.
Working out of her home studio in Landenberg, PA, Kathy paints the
beauty of the surrounding areas of Chester County, PA, and Hockessin and
Newark, DE. She works primarily in watercolors and tempera, but also
enjoys pastels and pencils.
Kathy’s original art and limited edition prints are currently available
at local galleries; she also exhibits in juried art shows. Private
collectors and corporations own her paintings. She is the vice president
of the Delaware Foundation for the Visual Arts, and is a member of the
Howard Pyle Studio Group of Wilmington, DE.
